Simpson Strong-Tie produces several varieties of tension ties capable of supporting a variety of tension loads. The HTT22 has no rivets, requires no washers, and features a 4-ply formed seat that won’t unfold during loading, and can be substituted for the MTT28B tension ties, which have load transfer plates. With the MTT28B it is important to not rotate the strap around the rivet. The strap must be in line vertically with the holdown in order to achieve tension loads specified.
LTT19 light tension ties are designed for 2x joists or purlins while the similar LTT20B is for nail- or bolt-on applications. LTTI31 tension ties are designed for wood chord open web truss attachments to concrete or masonry walls and may also be installed vertically on a minimum 2x6 stud.
Simpson Strong-Tie has designed their tension ties to be cost-effective solutions for light to medium uplift requirements. Simpson Strong-Tie HTT tension ties work best with SSTB anchor bolts or alternate anchorage that is specifically calculated to resist the tension load for your structural application.
